Roadway Design and Road Needs Studies:
Municipalities use Road Needs Studies in order to establish capital expenditure programs for the maintenance and upgrading of roads, bridges and culverts in accordance with guidelines established by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.
PEL staff have completed Road Needs Studies for small and mid size municipalities in Muskoka and throughout central Ontario. Tasks associated with the studies typically include:
• Inventory of existing infrastructure
• Assessment of condition
• Calculation of base costs for maintenance and repair
• Prioritizing of remedial works
• Establishment of capital works programs to address identified needs
